Complete Randomness

This morning the girls could be heard saying, “I want to kill something now” “You just killed something” “It’s my turn to kill something”  They are playing video games, Little Big Planet to be exact. A while back I played a game of Call of Duty with them, it was kinda of weird hearing David say, “don’t shoot mommy”  I stink at video games. Seriously. Remember Atari? The original Nintendo? Yeah, those are about my speed.

Last week we had my niece Natalie while my sister and her husband went out of town for their anniversary. We got a taste of what having 4 little girls would be like. She’s a little cutie. And she did not miss her Momma & Daddy at all. She did not want to talk to them on the phone.  And when we mentioned they would be coming back soon, she would change the subject.

Emily & Audrey are addicted to Build-a-Bearville. Not only do they play all the time, they talk about it all. the. time. David took the girls out to ride bikes last night, when they got back he told me for an hour all he heard about was Build-a-Bearville. They are both Cyber Guides, and they informed me if they remain Cyber Guides until the end of September they will get a free virtual bear. Oh, and apparently Audrey was trying to pick someone up yesterday in Build-a-Bearville, she asked who was single. Seriously? Then befriended someone, they sent her an outfit and money, and told her she needed a new hair-do. So, she unfriended them. Don’t be knockin’ a girl and her hair! ha! I’ll have to see if she returned the gifts. (you are not allowed free chat on this site, you can only type in certain phrases, or choose from the ones they provide)

disney

I am so ready to go back to Disney. When we returned from this last trip, I told David it would be fine with me to take a break from going every couple of years, and that I was kinda tired of going. {gasp} must have been the long drive back talking. It’s only been 8 months since our last trip, but seriously, I could go every year. We are always asked how we afford it, we save, save, save. For like two or three years. And just like that, in one week, we have spent that money, and more. ha!  I like all the parks, but Magic Kingdom is by far my favorite. I could spend the entire week going to that one park.

Any random thoughts today? Do you play video games? Been to Disney? Favorite Park? Oh, go see my friend Mikki, let her know your favorite Disney movie for a chance to win a copy of Disney’s The Black Cauldron. I’ve not seen the movie, so I’d really like to win. But thought I’d be nice and tell y’all about it, plus, it gets me an extra entry! lol

Smirks, Soccer, History & Reading

I’m sitting here listening to Plain White T’s, popping Pep-O-Mint lifesavers in my mouth every couple of minutes,{by the way, thanks for the addiction Annette} going through thousands of pictures, looking for one of the girls with a smirk on their face {iheartfaces challenge this week} I know I have them, just can’t find them. {sigh}

Oh well, maybe next week. Just need to get the chalk out and talk bribe the girls into going outside to draw. I’m thinking a cone of ice cream will work.

Well, I’ve jumped back on the soccer mom bandwagon, the girls have been playing soccer for the past couple of weeks. At first I was not too thrilled at the thought of practice 2 nights a week, and Saturday mornings spent at the park going from one game to the next. But watching the girls out on the field, makes all the running around worth it. I wish I had some pictures to post. I’ll have to go through them again, several of the other player’s faces are in them. I either need to blur them or crop them out.

Homeschool is going well ——> so far. I ended up switching from Mystery of History to Veritas Press. The girls are enjoying it. They were just getting board with MOH so I figured a change was needed.  They also like the fact that we are finished in like five minutes. HA! They are learning, I promise. And the more we get into it, the longer history will last. Plus I have a long list of books that I need to pick up from the library that they will need to add to their reading. {not gonna like that part}

Do your kids give you a hard time about reading? The girls act as though they hate it. Which I don’t understand, because I absolutely love reading. I’d rather read than do most anything, there is nothing like getting lost in a book. Back to the girls, I have tried several different approaches to this, trying to make it fun & interesting, giving incentives, and finally telling them they HAVE to read every.single.day. Do you follow a curriculum? or just give books to read? Do you pick? The kids? I ordered an Anne of Green Gables study for the girls, thinking they would enjoy it, I was wrong. They hated reading and said that is made no sense to them. Really? We’ve only seen the movie like 1000 times!

Thoughts? Ideas? Wanna be the “reading” teacher?

Oh, here’s super cute quote about Math.

Dear Math, I Don’t Want To Solve Your Problems, I Have My Own To Solve

On Sleeping

I have been the slackest blogger ever these past few weeks. I’ve got a somewhat good excuse though, lack of sleep.

Insomnia has been my unwanted best friend these past 2 or so weeks. I hate that feeling of not being able to sleep, just staring up at the ceiling wanting sleep to come so bad. Then trying to get through the next day is just plain miserable. My poor kids probably think I am the laziest person on the face of the earth, always going to lay down in the middle of the morning, or afternoon.

After calling my doctor, she called me in a little over a week’s worth of Ambien. After dealing with some of the side effects, I think I’d rather stay up all night. At least then, I feel a little sane! Night one took me over 2 hours to fall asleep. Nights two & three I saw things that weren’t there, or even happening, for that matter, things that could never, ever happen, like my vacuum cleaner dancing around, only it wasn’t a vacuum, it was a doll, Yeah, freaky. Poor David. I woke him up the first night, I can’t remember exactly what I told him, I’m pretty sure it was something about a monkey being on our dresser.

I thought it was a fluke thing, so I took another one the next night. Same thing just different characters. Needless to say, I’m not touching that stuff again. I’ll just stay awake and watch tv.

Have you ever suffered with insomnia? How do you make it through the long nights?
