2010

You know what they say, what you do on the first day of the New Year, will set the tone for the rest of the year.

I certainly hope this is not the case.

Friday morning I woke up feeling a little ill, and actually thought I was coming down with a bladder infection. The pain started getting worse, and before I knew it we were on our way to the hospital with the possibility of a kidney stone.

Once we arrived at the hospital, a ct scan confirmed what we were thinking.

Kidney stone pain, is like no other pain. I’m sure you have heard it said, that it is more painful than childbirth. That would be a most accurate statement.

To be honest, the pain this time around is not as intense as the one I had about 8 years ago. It very well could be the fact that I knew to get to the hospital before the pain was unbearable. Last time, I had NO clue what was going on and we waited hours before going to the hospital.

So, that’s how I spent the first day of 2010….in the hospital, on heavy medication, that really made me feel weird, and from what I am hearing, it made me act weird as well.

How did you spend the first day of 2010?

That’s awful, Michelle. So sorry! I hear they are more painful than childbirth, but considering my labor experience… Well, I hope I never have to find out. Like Sara said, I hope you are over the worst of it! I’m sure that this will not set the tone for 2010. ;)

    ((((hugs))))

Oh, I pray that this episode is OVER!! My husband struggles from time to time and he swears the pain is AWFUL. I believe him. 2010 will soon begin to look brighter for you soon I’m sure.

  4. Oh no! My sis in law just had a kidney stone and she said the same thing — WORSE than labor — I can’t even imagine! Hope you are feeling better!

  5. Oh, I’m so sorry! I have heard about how painful those can be. Praying you have a great 2010.

How are you feeling now Michelle! I hope that horrible thing has passed. What an awful way to spend your New Years. I’ve had a few friends tell me about those kidney stones and my aunt has had them something awful. I am really paranoid about them. I hope never to have to experience one of them. I think my new years resolution will include drinking tons of water daily. That should help prevent them a little right? I hope you are feeling all better now. I’ve been thinking about you so so much! Big hugs!

Oh you poor thing. I’ve never had those but my DH has. I hear it’s as bad or worse then giving birth.
But I guess I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.
Praying that you are feeling better soon.. and of course your 2010 will get MUCH better!!

I’m so sorry to hear this! I struggle with lots of kidney stones – so not fun! And they’ve ALL been worse than the three babies I’ve birthed! I had lithotripsy in November and am hoping to be rid of them all for awhile!
