Normally, it takes me forever to write up a post. For a couple of reasons……
my mind freezes up
as soon as I sit down, someone (Sarah) has to go to the bathroom
while I’m trying to get everything typed up, children (Emily & Audrey) start fighting
the kids (all) need things, like lunch
Anyway, I have exactly 10 minutes to get the post up because we are headed out to story time this morning.
So, as usual, ignore any spelling and grammatical errors. thankyouverymuch
Do any of y’all know what kind of flower this is?
It looks like a rose, and I think several people told me before it started to bloom that it was indeed a rosebush. I was excited to see the first couple of blooms yesterday but as the day passed it began to look like this…..
And now I’m not so sure. I was expecting them to look like the roses that you get at the florist shop.
And now I need your opinion on this end table.
This will be my first attempt to refinish furniture.
At first I wanted to paint it solid black. Then I wanted to paint it a creamy ivory color. Then I saw a pretty blue color, then a green color and then, and then and then.
I can’t make up my mind about anything!
And now I’m thinking about a distressed look. Maybe paint it black underneath and an ivory color on top, sanding off here and there.
So, what do you think. Any ideas? Have you done something like this before?
Well, we are off.
I went over by 5 minutes.

the table…whatever you decide, give yourself LOTS of time and do some exercises to work up those hand & arm muscles! it’ll be worth it though!
the flower…are ya kiddin’. talking to black thumb girl here. whatever it is, it is purdy!

go for the distressed look. did you see edie’s living in grace post this week on painted furniture? i linked to it. all the entries are so inspiring.
it is a rose. it’s probably a shrub rose like this: http://www.jacksonandperkins.com/gardening/PD/34433/
that is a rose!! I have about 20 rose bushes in my front yard and many of them open up fast like that. it is just a different type of rose than you are used to…a shrub rose. They are still just as beautiful!!
on the furniture, I have no clue….sorry!

I’d go with a sage green & brownish distressed look. But I’m partial to anything green.
Let me know how the refinishing goes. I did an old hope chest back in the day – and it took quite awhile and yes, your hands will get tired!!
Distressed look is the way to go!! Ivory under and black on top. Classic look. Good luck. Enjoy. I know it will look great!!!
